The international symposium "Sweetpotato: Food and Health for the Future," which will be held from November 26 to 29, 2001, is organized by the International Society of

Horticultural Science (ISHS), the Centro Internacional de la Papa (CIP), and the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (UNALM). The program includes: genetic resources and breeding, biotechnology, crop management, post-harvest, processing, quality, nutrition, and health, among others. The official language is English.

The last day of the sweetpotato symposium includes common topics with the "II Simposio Latinoamericano de Raices y Tuberculos," which will be held from November 28 to 30. This symposium offers the opportunity to exchange information about the recent research developments related to production, nutritional quality, and processing of roots and tubers. There will be simultaneous translation (English-Spanish) only during the keynote presentations on Thursday, November 29; otherwise, the official language of this event is Spanish.
